ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) – The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has expanded the area that has spring burning restrictions in place.
As warm and dry weather spreads across the state, the DNR has now included St. Louis and Carlton Counties to the area where permits for open burning are on hold until conditions improve.
Escaped fire from burning vegetative debris is the number one cause of wildfires in Minnesota and these burning restrictions help to reduce that risk.
Rather than burning vegetative or yard waste, the DNR says composting or taking it to a collection site are better options.
