DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department is alerting the public about a number of scam calls and texts being reported in the area.
The scammers claim to be from the Sheriff’s Office or the St. Louis County Jail and demand money from unpaid tickets or bail from someone they say is in jail. They also threaten legal action or suspension of your driver’s license if payment is not made.
The Sheriff’s Office again reminds the public that law enforcement does not call asking for payment over the phone or by text. If you receive such a call or text, never provide credit card, gift card or click on a payment links.
If you get one of these calls or texts and wish to file a police report, you can call 911.
