A few things to keep in mind if you’re planning a visit for one or both of the games this weekend:
–> The Haunted Ship is also open, so traffic could be a bit snarly going in and out of here;
–> It’s MEA weekend, which means there are visitors around Canal Park who — gasp! — aren’t here for hockey;
–> UMD is holding tailgate parties starting at 5pm Friday and 4pm Saturday by the Slip Bridge;
–> The Maroon Loon is here both nights;
–> Hoagie’s No. 00 gets retired before Saturday’s game, a ceremony that will happen after team introductions and before the national anthem. If you have tickets, please plan accordingly.
Anyway, should be a great weekend. As for the games, I expect a somewhat-tightly played series. These are two teams that badly want to start stockpiling non-conference wins, and these are two highly-competitive coaches who are cut from the same cloth and have expressed a lack of satisfaction with their respective teams’ overall play.
Now watch one of these games go 7-5 with both teams pulling their starting goalies.
Carl Axelsson vs Luca Di Pasquo.
