DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation is resuming work in the Silver Cliff and Lafayette Bluff tunnels on Highway 61 on September 8th.
The work on the tunnels north of Two Harbors will finish up replacing the lighting systems in each of the tunnels.
Single lane traffic through the tunnels on weekdays will be controlled by a signal system.
The work will take place in one tunnel at a time, starting with Silver Cliff, and will not impact weekend traffic.
The project is expected to be complete by the end of October.
