DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has removed Class Three burning restrictions in Cook, Lake and northern St. Louis Counties on Monday (8/24).
Campfires and recreational fires are now allowed but permits are required for burning vegetation, any fire larger than 3 feet high and 3 feet wide and fires not contained within a burning ring.
Although conditions have improved with recent rains, drought conditions persist in many areas and caution still needs to be used with campfires or other outdoor activity that creates heat or sparks.
The U-S Forest Service has also lifted their elevated burning restrictions in the Superior National Forest and BWCA.
