DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – After a period of above normal temperatures and no snow, winter weather is expected to make its return to the Northland Tuesday night into Thursday.
The National Weather Service Office in Duluth has issued a Winter Storm Watch for possible mixed precipitation turning to heavy snow.
Most areas of northeast Minnesota could see total accumulations of 5 to 10 inches of snow and over a foot for the higher terrain along the north shore where blizzard conditions are possible.
Far northern Wisconsin can expect 3 to 6 inches but 4 to 9 inches in northern Bayfield County.
Strong winds, gusting to 40 miles per hour, may cause blowing and drifting snow and travel could be very difficult.
The hazardous conditions may impact commutes on Tuesday evening, Wednesday and Thursday morning.
