VIRGINIA, MN (KDAL) – This week, northern St. Louis County started a program designed to improve medical response times to rural areas in northern St. Louis County.
The Sprint Medic program is funded through the rural emergency medical services aid package passed by the legislature in 2024.
Paramedics from the Virginia Fire Department will serve as the Sprint Medics and will be stationed in the Tower, Cook, Orr and Boise Forte areas.
Each of the two Sprint Medics will use an SUV equipped with advanced life support equipment and will be ready to respond to emergency calls immediately.
The Sprint Medics will work in partnership with the primary responding ambulance coordinated by the St. Louis County 9-1-1 system.
The pilot program is funded through 2027.
