DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The National Weather Service Office in Duluth has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for Wednesday night to Thursday afternoon and then an Extreme Cold Warning for Thursday afternoon through noon Friday. A Cold Weather Watch will be in effect from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
During the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills around 44 below are expected with actual temperatures falling to 16 below zero by Thursday afternoon.
Wind chills of 50 below are possible during the Extreme Cold Warning period and overnight low temperatures on Thursday and Friday nights could reach 35 below zero especially in areas away from Lake Superior.
The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite in as little as five minutes.
The Weather Service reminds people when outside to wear appropriate clothing, dress in layers and use a hat, facemask and gloves.
