DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Duluth Police Department now has an armored vehicle for use in high risk service calls.
The Lenco Bearcat G3 armored rescue vehicle was recently added to the department’s fleet.
The Bearcat is a state-of-the-art emergency response vehicle designed to provide ballistic protection and operational mobility in life threatening situations.
Previously Duluth Police used Superior’s armored vehicle when needed.
Chief Mike Ceynowa says purchase of the vehicle will provide protection for officers during high risk situations and allows for the safety of the officers and also the community.
Funds to purchase the armored vehicle came from a surplus due to unfilled positions within the department.
