GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP, MN (KDAL) – Several are fire departments responded to a cabin fire Wednesday afternoon on Lake Vermilion’s Meads Island.
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department, a caretaker had started the cabin’s furnace for the property owner who was to arrive later.
The fire began after the caretaker had left and the cabin was a total loss.
The fire was discovered by a snowmobiler on the lake who noticed smoke on the island.
There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation but is not suspicious in nature.
