DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Minnesota Power is working to restore power to about 14 thousand customers mostly in north central Minnesota with scattered outages on the Iron Range and further north.
The hardest hit areas include Little Falls, Eagle Bend, Pequot Lakes, Crosby, Ironton, Deerwood, Nisswa and Pine River.
The interruption in power is due to severe storms and at least one tornado that hit the region on Monday and again Monday night.
All available line crews are working in the field with assistance expected to be requested from other area utilities.
Minnesota Power says the scope and scale of the damage to power lines and other infrastructure may result in a multi-day outage for some customers.
Remember to stay clear of downed power lines and keep pets and children from those areas. The latest information is available online at mnpower.com/OutageCenter
Lake Country Power is also dealing with lines and poles down in thunderstorms on Monday evening. About 8700 customers were affected by 10 p-m and overnight crews were able to restore service for about 5000. In some cases, power could be out for another day or two.
