GILBERT, MN (KDAL) – A four vehicle crash on a snow covered Highway 135 at Indiana Avenue in Gilbert Thursday left two people dead and five others injured.
The Minnesota State Patrol says a westbound vehicle lost control and crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and was hit by two eastbound vehicles one of which was rear ended by another vehicle.
The victims have been identified as 32 year old Betty Jean Smith and 11 year old Dakota John Smith, both from Aurora.
Four of the injured were taken to a hospital in Virginia and another with life threatening injuries was taken to Essentia St. Mary’s in Duluth.
The crash occurred around 4 p-m and shut down the highway for several hours.
