DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The U-S Army Corps of Engineers will begin dredging and beach nourishment operations next week.
The corps recently excavated, screened and documented debris found from material placed on Park Point in 2020.
The beach between the pier and 36th Street was raked this summer to remove aluminum can fragments from the previous beach nourishment project and trash left by beach-goers.
The corps had originally planned to dredge and place nearly 100 thousand cubic yards but that amount was reduced due to the stringent protocols and safeguards put in place to ensure the material is free from man-made debris.
