The OmaPod will have officially passed the halfway mark when puck drops between UMD and Denver to kick off a three-game day.
(This is followed by North Dakota vs St. Cloud State and Omaha vs Miami on what should be a really enjoyable day of hockey.)
When these teams first met, it was Denver basically stomping a mudhole in UMD for two periods, especially the second, but Ryan Fanti wouldn’t allow the Pioneers to walk said mudhole dry. That allowed UMD to rally behind power play goals by Jackson Cates and (guess who!) Kobe Roth in the third period for a 2-1 win.
Going to venture a guess that if UMD plays like that for 40 minutes in this game, the Pioneers will take better advantage than they did the first time around. Denver should be feeling good about itself after consecutive wins over North Dakota and Miami coming into this game.
No changes from Thursday’s lineup for UMD. Denver is missing forward Bobby Brink, who left last weekend for U.S. World Junior Camp in Michigan and has officially made the team, as have North Dakota defensemen Jake Sanderson and Tyler Kleven, for the tournament later this month in Edmonton.
Don’t forget that you can be a part of the between-games blog, which is open for #AskBruceAnything questions. Hit me up on Twitter, use the hashtag, and I’ll get to a bunch of the queries after this game.
11:30 pregame on KDAL. Enjoy!
