SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) – The Coast Guard Investigative Service is offering a thousand dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for a break-in and theft at the Superior entry lighthouse.
According to the Coast Guard, the theft of a navigational beacon is believed to have occurred on or about May 13th.
Removal of the beacon could jeopardize public safety and creates a hazard that could lead to vessel collisions or groundings and presents a danger to commercial mariners and recreational boaters.
The lighthouse is privately owned but the navigational beacon is property of the U-S Coast Guard.
