DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, the National Weather Service, local government and broadcast stations will be participating in a Tornado Drill on Thursday.
Participating cities, including Duluth, will be sounding outdoor warning sirens at 1:45 and 6:45 p-m so residents can practice their tornado sheltering plans.
The test will also be broadcast on radio and TV stations at those times.
During an actual tornado warning shelter should be found in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If in a mobile home, a vehicle, or outdoors, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
Several areas in parts of Wisconsin, where severe weather and tornadoes recently occurred, will not be holding the drills this year.
