On Wednesday, I spent some time with UMD sophomore forward Max Plante. Excited for the playoffs, we talked about the importance of getting Hunter Anderson back this weekend, and the importance of Adam Gajan getting a game in before the postseason after a 28-day layoff.
“We’re fully healthy going into the postseason,” he said. “Knock on wood it stays that way.”
I practically broke my hand. And it didn’t work.
UMD captain Joey Pierce is out for the playoff series opener against St. Cloud State. Pierce is tougher than a $3 steak (blame inflation), but hopefully this isn’t anything significant. It ends a run of 123 straight games played for Pierce, a streak that started Feb. 17, 2023, during his freshman season.
Game 1 can be heard in the Twin Ports on 102.5FM, in Hibbing at AM650 like usual, and streamed anywhere at northlandnewsradio.com.
(For those unaware, we’ve had an ice storm in the Duluth area over the last couple days, and it’s adversely affected KDAL’s transmitter.)
Adam Gajan vs Jan Shostak.
