Not quite a “Last day of school” vibe, but we’re close.
UMD wraps up the 2025 portion of its schedule and hits the halfway mark of the NCHC season with the series finale here against Arizona State.
A 3-1 UMD win on Friday gave Scott Sandelin 483 wins in his 1,000 games as head coach. It also moved the Bulldogs to 10-0 on Friday nights so far this season.
You can do the math. Or read back to previous Saturday lineup blogs for more information.
We have not gotten any further update on Arizona State senior co-captain Kyle Smolen, who was helped off the ice with 6:11 to go last night after a hard hit by UMD defenseman Adam Kleber. All we know is Smolen was said to have an upper-body injury and was still being evaluated. He is, duh, not in the lineup for ASU, replaced on the fourth line by freshman Braxton Whitehead.
Defenseman Anthony Dowd, who was clearly trying to play through something on Friday, sits for the Sun Devils, with Sam Court drawing in. Freshman Samuel Urban will start for the Sun Devils in goal after senior Connor Hasley stopped 32 of 34 shots faced Friday.
UMD makes a couple tweaks, inserting Braden Fischer and Trevor Stachowiak on the fourth line for Blake Bechen and Ryan Zaremba. Jake Toll rotates in as the seventh defenseman for Riley Bodnarchuk.
Lines?
