The Bulldogs kept on rolling Friday night, riding a hat trick from defenseman Ty Hanson to a 5-2 win over Omaha. UMD’s 11-2 start is its best since 1989-90, and no UMD team has ever gotten to 12 wins in just 14 games.
Adam Gajan continues his strong play, combining a few highlight-reel saves with the timely ones, the big stops that keep a scoreline from getting away from his team. Gajan made a number of impressive stops as a freshman, but often struggled when it came to making a key save at a key moment in a game, a save that could have kept his team in front, tied, or within a goal.
That’s been wayyyy different this season, and is easily the biggest difference in his game from a year ago. As long as it continues, the Bulldogs will have a chance in virtually every game they play.
UMD makes one change, with Trevor Stachowiak drawing in for Ryan Zaremba. Kyler Kovich and Daniel Shlaine switch lines.
