WASCOTT, WI (KDAL) – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has identified the two canoeists who went missing on October 28th near Wascott.
26 year old Ryan J. Busch and 27 year old Andrew T. DeRock were reported missing when the canoe they were in was found capsized on the Minong Flowage. Both men are from New Ulm, Minnesota.
Search efforts began by a number of law enforcement agencies, rescue teams and a private search organization.
The search continues but is now considered a recovery mission.
The parents of the two missing men are thanking the Wascott community for all the support they have received.
UPDATE: The body of Ryan Busch was recovered on the evening of November 8th, the search continues for Andrew DeRock.
UPDATE 2: The body of Andrew DeRock was recovered by search crews on the afternoon of November 15th.
