DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – A “Return to Learn” plan was presented to the Duluth School Board on Tuesday.
Superintendent John Magas says the plan emphasizes the safety of students and staff and uses protocols and instructions from the Minnesota Departments of Health and Education.
The state allows using three learning models based on local COVID-19 numbers. They include in-person, hybrid and distance learning.
Magas says current conditions and trends has the district recommending an in-person model for K-5 elementary and a hybrid model for grades 6-12 for the start of the school year.
Families who would prefer not sending their kids to school could instead choose all distance learning.
A Duluth Public School survey of families and staff indicated about 63 percent of respondents would send students to in-person or hybrid school this fall.
The Duluth School Board will meet again Thursday to consider moving forward with the plan.
