DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Ryan Anderson crossed the finish line in Lutsen at 7:19 Monday morning to win the mid-distance Beargrease 120 race.
Anderson from St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin was followed by Martha Schouweiler of Irma, Wisconsin, who won the event the last four years, finished 2nd at 7:27 a-m. Third place went to Joanna Oberg of Grand Marais, Minnesota.
The full marathon continues with Colleen Wallin, from Two Harbors, being the first musher out of the Sawbill checkpoint at 8:33 Monday morning. Alaska’s Ryan Redington was 2nd out of Sawbill and in third was Erin Altimus from Grand Marais.
The nearly 300 mile race to the Grand Portage Lodge began Sunday afternoon north of Duluth and is expected to finish sometime on Tuesday afternoon.
