UNDATED (KDAL) – The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is out with its annual reminder concerning asphalt paving scams.
During the summer months, suspect asphalt companies often go door-to-door claiming to have extra paving materials from a nearby project which allows them to offer you a discounted rate.
Often the jobs tend to be sub-par and cost more than the original “bargain” quote that was given initially.
The BBB recommends not hiring such traveling companies on-the-spot and to get a written estimate that is valid for several days and avoid any high pressure sales tactics. Consumers are often safer dealing with local contractors and free business profiles are available by visiting bbb.org
If you do get scammed, you can help others avoid the same problem by reporting your experience to the BBB’s Scam Tracker at that website.
