UNDATED (KDAL) – Although rainfall in the Twin Ports area was 1.4 inches below normal in July, basin conditions were generally wetter than average and Lake Superior water levels rose by 3 inches during the month.
The International Lake Superior Board of Control says the lake normally rises by 2 inches during July.
The lake is also about ten inches above its long term average.
Water levels are expected to remain high over at least the next few months and there will be a continued risk of shoreline erosion, lake shore flooding and coastal damage during periods of strong winds and high waves.
