UNDATED (KDAL) – As March Madness kicks in, the Minnesota Alliance on Problem Gambling has designated March as Problem Gambling Awareness Month.
With the explosive growth of sports betting, the focus this year is on the estimated seven thousand high school students that are affected by problem gambling.
Executive Director of the Alliance says with betting on game and prediction markets getting easier to do, it is more important than ever that people understand the risks of gambling becoming a big problem. He says families and educators need to recognize problem gambling and to intervene early.
In Minnesota an estimated two million people are impacted and the Alliance on Problem Gambling can connect families to prevention and available resources to address the issue.
Those seeking help can call the Minnesota Helpline at 1-800-333-HOPE for more information.
