ALBORN TOWNSHIP, MN (KDAL) – St. Louis County Sheriff Deputies responded to reports of a vehicle hit by a train in Alborn Township just after 10 p-m on Monday.
Officers arrived to the area of Highway 7 and the Swan Lake Road to discover there were no passengers in the vehicle at the time of the crash and no injuries were reported.
The driver, a 34 year old man from the Alborn area, apparently abandoned his vehicle on the railroad tracks.
The vehicle was significantly damaged in the crash, the CN train engine was not damaged.
Law enforcement says alcohol is believed to have played a role in the incident and the driver was arrested on DWI charges.
