For UMD, the scenarios are pretty simple.
If the Bulldogs win, tie, or just get this game to overtime, it’s St. Cloud State in here next weekend for a best of three.
If Colorado College wins this game in regulation, the Tigers will return to Duluth next weekend, likely armed with a red-hot goalie who just stole a game from the Bulldogs.
But Kaidan Mbereko isn’t playing in this game. Freshman Jackson Unger draws the start, as the Tigers opt to rest their top goaltender ahead of next weekend’s playoff series in Duluth, Denver, or Kalamazoo.
You don’t pick your opponent in the postseason, and Colorado College is going to do what it can to keep UMD from having any say this time around.
Adam Gajan makes his first start for UMD since Jan. 31 in Denver. No other changes. CC flips its defensive pairs around a bit.
