HERMANTOWN, MN (KDAL) – A special event at the Hermantown City Hall Monday introduced three new law enforcement K-9 teams that have completed training and are beginning patrol shifts.
K-9 Bruno is partnered with Hermantown Police Officer Olivia Gottschald and K-9 Kylo is teamed up with Hermantown officer Lucas Hedin.
The third new K-9 is Ollie who is partnered with St. Louis County Sheriff Deputy Jason Kuhnly.
All three graduated after 16 weeks of training in skills such as narcotics detection, apprehension, tracking and evidence searches.
The event also paid tribute to three K-9s who have retired.
Tuuko and Jack with the Hermantown Police and the Sheriff Department’s Donny have served a combined 24 years of service with their agencies. The retired dogs will transition to family pets and remain with their long time handlers.
