McKINLEY TOWNSHIP, MN (KDAL) – About 10:15 on Wednesday night, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of an ATV accident on Grand Avenue in McKinley Township.
First responders arrived to find a 40 year old man semi-responsive on the ground next to his ATV.
An investigation determined the man from Gilbert was traveling alone at the time of the crash.
Friends located the crash scene as they returned from an area where they were watching the Northern Lights. The victim had left the group earlier on his ATV and was not wearing a helmet.
He was airlifted to a medical facility with life threatening injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office says alcohol appears to have been a factor in the crash.
