DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – On Wednesday, Spectrum presented a 5 thousand dollar check to the Duluth Honor Guard.
The Honor Guard performs at military funerals across the region providing flag presentations, the playing of taps and rifle salutes.
The 54 member organization participates in about 200 funerals, flag postings, Memorial Day services and other activities each year.
Government stipends for military funerals were discontinued in 2023 and groups like the Duluth Honor Guard often cover costs for services out of their own pockets.
The donation will allow the Honor Guard to purchase uniforms, fund transportation to events and cover other expenses.
Captain Dan Streu is grateful to Spectrum for the generous donation and says it could not have come at a better time.
