DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – At a news conference on Tuesday, Duluth Mayor Emily Larson detailed the progress made by the city in four focus areas.
In her State of the City address earlier this year, the mayor set economic development, public safety, connectivity and sustainability as city priorities.
Larson says an internal audit has been convened to take economic development to the next level and the permitting process has been streamlined.
Steps to improve public safety included a Downtown Task Force and the addition of a new prosecutor.
A pilot project has begun to enroll Lincoln Park homes to evaluate interest in an affordable and reliable fiber optic internet service.
A city Climate Action Work Plan has been established to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to meet a net zero emissions goal by 2050.
The mayor also highlighted road repair efforts as nearly 17 miles of streets were repaired this year compared to an average of two miles a year when she began her first term in office.
