BRITT, MN (KDAL) – The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department and Rescue Squad are searching for a missing canoeist on Sand Lake north of Virginia.
21 year old Phillip Poulose from Roseville, Minnesota and a friend were canoeing on the lake Thursday afternoon during very windy weather.
When the high waves flooded their canoe, Poulose told his friend he was going to swim for shore.
The friend swam to a small island where he was rescued.
A search of the lake and the island continues for Poulose.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, neither man was wearing a life jacket.
UPDATE: The body of Phillip Poulose was located and recovered on Sand Lake Monday morning after a four day search.
