DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Essentia Health is postponing all routine appointments and elective procedures for two weeks beginning Wednesday.
The decision applies to all Essentia hospitals and clinics from March 18th to April 1st.
The move was made to protect patients and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic and also allows Essentia to deploy staff and resources to prepare for coronavirus outbreaks in communities it serves.
Appointments are being rescheduled unless a physician sees a need for the office visit. Elective surgeries and procedures will be delayed if it won’t adversely impact the patient’s condition.
Essentia has also locked down most doors at the St. Mary’s Medical Center.
The 4th Street entrance will be open from 8 a-m to 5 p-m Monday through Friday and the emergency department will remain accessible at anytime.
