DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – In 1975, the USS Duluth rescued about 2 thousand refugees from Vietnam as U-S forces were leaving the country.
A family member who was part of that evacuation will be in Duluth this week to see the city that his rescue ship was named after.
Chinh Pham was ten years old at the time and along with his sister and parents will make a special trip to Duluth.
The family will meet with Mayor Emily Larson on Tuesday, tour the USS Duluth exhibit at the Depot, visit the ship’s anchor monument on the Lakewalk and pay their respects at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
