MISSION CREEK TOWNSHIP, MN (KDAL) – Slippery roads and near white-out conditions resulted in several crashes in the area on Thursday.
A 63 year old woman from Mora died in a three vehicle collision on Highway 23 just west of I-35 in Pine County. Two other people were injured in the crash including a 32 year old man from Carlton who was taken to Essentia St. Mary’s in Duluth with life threatening injuries.
The Minnesota State Patrol says roads were snow and ice covered at the time of the crash.
The State Patrol also investigated a crash of an ambulance on Highway 53 and the Hermantown Road where the driver lost control on the slippery road while responding to another accident.
Authorities recommended no travel on Thursday afternoon and evening as high winds and snow moved through the region causing hazardous driving conditions.
